Possible Causes
Open or shorted evaporator sensor, sensor not attached to evaporator, damaged harness, failed control PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before accessing the evaporator area or control board.
Steps to address F2:
- Access evaporator area: Remove interior shelves and the rear panel to expose the evaporator plate or coil.
- Locate the sensor: The evaporator sensor is usually clipped directly to the evaporator plate or tubing.
- Inspect and test: Ensure the sensor is firmly attached and not dangling. Measure resistance at room temperature and compare to specifications. Replace if open, shorted, or out of range.
- Check wiring: Inspect the harness from the sensor to the control PCB for damage or loose connectors.
- Replace parts as needed: Install a new OEM Danby evaporator sensor if faulty. If the sensor and wiring are good but F2 persists, replace the control PCB.
