Mechanical Vibration or Loose Component Noise
Refrigerator makes loud buzzing, rattling, or vibrating noises during operation.

Possible Causes
Loose condenser fan shroud, vibrating copper refrigerant lines, unit not leveled, items vibrating against cabinet walls, failing fan motor bearings
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the refrigerator before reaching into the rear compartment or near moving parts.
Steps to reduce noise:
- Level the unit: Adjust the front leveling legs so the refrigerator is stable and does not rock. Ensure all four corners contact the floor.
- Check for external vibrations: Move items away from the sides and top of the refrigerator that may be rattling when the compressor runs.
- Inspect rear compartment: Remove the rear cover and look for copper lines or wiring harnesses touching each other or the cabinet. Gently bend or pad them so they do not vibrate together.
- Condenser fan and shroud: Ensure the fan shroud and motor are firmly mounted. Tighten any loose screws.
- Fan bearings: If the noise clearly comes from a fan and changes with fan speed, the motor bearings may be worn. Replace the noisy fan motor.
