Possible Causes
Deformed or torn door gasket, Door not closing fully due to misalignment, Failed mullion or frame heater (on some models), High kitchen humidity and frequent door openings
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator if you need to adjust hinges or remove doors.
Steps:
- 1. Inspect the gasket: Check for gaps, tears, or hardened sections. Close the door on a sheet of paper; if it pulls out easily, the seal is weak.
- 2. Warm and reshape: Use a hair dryer on low to gently warm deformed gasket areas and reshape them by hand to improve contact.
- 3. Adjust door alignment: Tighten or adjust the upper and lower hinges so the door sits square and seals evenly.
- 4. Replace the gasket: If damaged, remove the old gasket from its retainer and press in a new genuine De Dietrich gasket, ensuring it seats fully around the perimeter.
- 5. For models with frame heaters: If condensation persists only around the frame, the anti-condensation heater may have failed and should be checked and replaced by a technician.
