Possible Causes

Defective refrigerator NTC probe, Broken or oxidized NTC wiring harness, Loose connector on main control board, Faulty main PCB input channel

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator from the mains before removing any panels or touching wiring. Use insulated tools and avoid working with wet hands.

Step-by-step checks:

  • 1. Power reset: Disconnect power for 5–10 minutes, then reconnect. If E0 returns after a few minutes of operation, continue with diagnostics.
  • 2. Locate the refrigerator NTC sensor: Inside De Dietrich refrigerators, the fresh-food (refrigerator) NTC is usually clipped to the rear liner wall behind a small plastic cover or integrated into the air duct near the fan. Remove shelves as needed and gently unclip the cover.
  • 3. Inspect the sensor and wiring: Check for broken insulation, corrosion on the connector, or signs of moisture ingress. Reseat the connector firmly.
  • 4. Test the NTC resistance: With the appliance unplugged, disconnect the NTC from the harness and measure resistance with a multimeter. At about 20°C, most De Dietrich NTCs read roughly 4–6 kΩ (check service documentation if available). If the reading is open circuit, shorted (near 0 Ω), or far outside expected range, the sensor is faulty.
  • 5. Check continuity to the main PCB: Access the main control board (usually in a rear lower compartment or top control housing). Verify continuity from the NTC connector to the PCB plug. Repair or replace damaged wiring.
  • 6. Replace the NTC sensor if defective: Unclip the old probe, route the new one along the same path, and ensure the sensing tip is in good contact with the liner or duct. Avoid pinching the cable when refitting covers.
  • 7. If sensor and wiring are good: The analog input on the main PCB may be defective. Replacement of the main control board is recommended and is best done by a qualified technician.
