Possible Causes

Faulty ambient NTC sensor near control panel, Loose or corroded connector at display PCB, Damaged wiring between ambient sensor and main PCB, Defective control board sensor circuit

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the appliance before removing the control panel or display housing.

Steps:

  • 1. Locate the ambient sensor: On many De Dietrich refrigerators, the ambient NTC is located behind the front display/control panel or in a small grille on the cabinet front/top.
  • 2. Remove the control panel: Carefully pry off trim pieces and remove screws to access the display PCB. Avoid pulling on the wiring harness.
  • 3. Inspect the sensor and wiring: Look for discoloration, broken wires, or moisture damage. Reseat the connector firmly on the PCB.
  • 4. Test the sensor: Disconnect the NTC and measure resistance at room temperature (~20–25°C). Compare to expected NTC values (often 4–6 kΩ). Replace the sensor if readings are open, shorted, or far off spec.
  • 5. Check PCB tracks and solder joints: Examine the display/control PCB for burnt components or cracked solder joints at the sensor connector. Reflow solder only if you are experienced; otherwise replace the board.
  • 6. Reassemble and test: Refit the panel, restore power, and monitor operation. If E2 persists with a known-good sensor, the main PCB or display PCB likely needs replacement.
