Possible Causes
Defective magnetic reed door switch, Misaligned door magnet, Broken wiring in door harness, Faulty input circuit on main PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before removing trims or panels around the door frame.
Steps:
- 1. Check door closure: Ensure the door closes fully and the gasket is not obstructing. If the door is slightly open, the switch may not actuate.
- 2. Locate the door switch: On many De Dietrich models, the switch is a small plunger or magnetic sensor in the cabinet frame near the top or side.
- 3. Test the switch: For a plunger switch, press it in and out; the interior light should toggle. For a magnetic sensor, place a magnet near the sensor and observe if the light goes off (when powered). With power off, use a multimeter to check continuity when actuated.
- 4. Inspect wiring: Remove the switch from the frame and check the connector and wires for damage. Repair any broken conductors.
- 5. Replace the switch: If the switch does not change state electrically, install a new door switch or sensor of the correct type and rating.
- 6. If E8 persists: The main PCB input may be faulty. This requires board replacement by a technician.
