Possible Causes
Defective water inlet valve coil, Blocked water filter or inlet, Failed flow meter/flow sensor, Wiring fault between valve and PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator and close the water supply valve before disconnecting any water lines.
Steps:
- 1. Check water supply: Ensure the household shutoff valve is fully open and the supply hose is not kinked.
- 2. Replace or bypass the water filter: A clogged filter can trigger flow errors. Install a new genuine De Dietrich filter or temporarily bypass to test.
- 3. Access the water inlet valve: Usually located at the rear bottom of the refrigerator. Remove the rear cover to expose it.
- 4. Test valve coils: Disconnect the electrical connectors and measure coil resistance. Open or shorted coils indicate a bad valve.
- 5. Inspect the flow sensor: Some models integrate a flow meter in the valve assembly or filter head. Check for stuck turbine or damaged wiring.
- 6. Replace faulty components: Install a new water inlet valve or filter head/flow sensor assembly as required. Use new seals and tighten fittings securely, then check for leaks.
- 7. Restore water and power: Turn on the water, plug in the unit, and purge air from the system by dispensing water for several minutes.
