Possible Causes
Refrigerator NTC sensor out of calibration, Sensor not properly positioned in airflow, Faulty main PCB interpreting sensor data, Stuck relay driving compressor continuously
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the appliance before accessing sensors or the control board.
Steps:
- 1. Confirm settings: Make sure the temperature is not set to the coldest level and that any "super cool" or "fast freeze" functions are turned off.
- 2. Check sensor placement: Locate the refrigerator NTC sensor and ensure it is clipped correctly to the liner or duct, not hanging near the evaporator where it reads too cold.
- 3. Test the sensor: Measure its resistance at known temperatures and compare to specifications. Replace if out of range.
- 4. Inspect the PCB: If the sensor is good but the compressor never cycles off, the control board relay may be stuck. Board replacement is required.
