Possible Causes
Clogged drain hole below evaporator, Ice plug in drain tube, Food debris or mold blocking drain channel, Misaligned drain funnel on evaporator tray
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator before removing panels or using hot water near electrical parts.
Steps:
- 1. Locate the drain: In many De Dietrich models, the drain hole is at the bottom of the rear interior wall, below the evaporator cover.
- 2. Clear visible debris: Remove any food particles or sludge from the drain opening with a soft brush or cotton swab.
- 3. Flush with warm water: Use a turkey baster or syringe to slowly pour warm (not boiling) water into the drain until it flows freely into the drain pan above the compressor.
- 4. Clear the external tube: From the rear, locate the rubber drain tube leading to the drip tray. Remove and clean it, then reinstall securely.
- 5. Prevent recurrence: Avoid pushing food against the rear wall and periodically clean the drain area.
