Possible Causes
Unplugged or broken thermistor harness, Failed fresh food or freezer thermistor, Connector corrosion at sensor plug, Damaged wiring in cabinet
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator before accessing sensors.
- Identify which sensor: Consult the tech sheet (usually behind the toe grille or rear panel) to determine whether OP refers to the fresh food, freezer, or ambient sensor.
- Locate sensor: Sensors are typically behind small covers on the liner walls or clipped to the evaporator tubing.
- Inspect connection: Remove the cover and check that the thermistor is firmly plugged into its harness. Look for broken wires.
- Test thermistor: Using a multimeter, measure resistance at room temperature and compare to Electrolux specifications (commonly around 5–10 kΩ at 77°F, but verify for your model). Replace if open or out of range.
- Repair wiring: If the thermistor is good but the harness is open, repair or replace the harness section.
