Possible Causes
Loose or damaged wiring harness between UI and main board, Faulty user interface control board, Faulty main control board, Corroded connectors at top hinge or control housing
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before accessing any control boards or wiring.
- Power reset: Unplug the refrigerator for 5 minutes, then reconnect. Sometimes a transient communication fault clears with a reset.
- Inspect top hinge harness (if applicable): On many Electrolux French door models, the display wiring passes through the top door hinge. Remove the hinge cover and check for pinched, broken, or corroded wires. Reseat the connector.
- Access the user interface: Remove the control panel trim (usually at the dispenser or top of fresh food compartment). Check the ribbon cable or harness connection to the UI board. Ensure it is fully seated and not damaged.
- Check main control connections: At the rear of the refrigerator, remove the control board cover. Inspect the harness that runs to the UI. Reseat connectors and look for signs of burning or corrosion.
- Component replacement: If wiring is intact and reseating does not resolve the error, replace the user interface board first (most common). If the issue persists, the main control board may need replacement. Board replacement should be done carefully to avoid ESD damage; consider a professional if unsure.
