Possible Causes

Failed evaporator fan motor in fresh food section, Ice buildup around evaporator fan, Damaged fan wiring harness in cabinet, Faulty main control board (Electrolux PCB)

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator or switch off the circuit breaker before removing any panels or touching wiring.

  • Check for airflow and fan operation: Open the fresh food compartment and listen for the evaporator fan behind the rear interior panel. If it is silent or intermittently starting/stopping, the fan or its feedback circuit is suspect.
  • Inspect for ice buildup: Remove shelves and drawers, then remove the rear interior panel of the fresh food section. Look for heavy frost or ice around the evaporator fan shroud. If present, allow the unit to fully defrost (doors open, towels on floor) for 24 hours, then restart and see if the error returns.
  • Check fan wiring: With power still disconnected, inspect the evaporator fan motor connector and wiring harness for corrosion, loose pins, or damage where it passes through the liner. Reseat the connector firmly.
  • Test fan motor: If you have a multimeter and skills, check for continuity across the fan motor terminals. An open circuit indicates a failed motor that must be replaced.
  • Replace components as needed: If the fan is seized or open, replace the evaporator fan motor assembly specific to your Electrolux model. If the fan tests good but the code persists, the main control board may not be reading the feedback signal and may require replacement by a technician.
