Possible Causes
Blocked defrost drain tube, Ice plug in drain trough under evaporator, Cracked drain pan, Misaligned drain tube at rear
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator before removing panels.
- Locate defrost drain: Remove the freezer rear panel and find the drain hole beneath the evaporator coil.
- Clear ice and debris: Use warm water in a turkey baster or squeeze bottle to flush the drain until water flows freely into the drain pan under the unit.
- Check rear drain tube: At the back of the refrigerator, locate the rubber drain tube and ensure it is not kinked or clogged. Clean if necessary.
- Inspect drain pan: Verify the drain pan is not cracked and is properly positioned under the drain outlet.
