Possible Causes

Failed ice maker motor, Jammed ice cubes in mold, Faulty ice maker position sensor or switch, Loose wiring to ice maker module

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator before working on the ice maker.

Steps:

  • Inspect ice maker: Remove the ice bin to access the ice maker assembly. Look for jammed or oversized cubes blocking the ejector arm.
  • Clear jams: Gently remove any stuck ice with a plastic utensil. Do not use metal tools that can damage the mold coating.
  • Check water fill: Verify that the ice mold is filling with water. If it is dry, the issue may be with the water valve (see E11) rather than the ice maker motor.
  • Inspect wiring: Ensure the ice maker harness is fully connected at both the ice maker and cabinet side.
  • Test ice maker (if test button present): Some Etna ice makers have a test button. With power restored, press and hold the test button to initiate a cycle. If nothing happens, the motor or control in the ice maker is likely faulty.
  • Replace ice maker assembly: If the motor does not run or the position sensor does not detect home position, replace the complete Etna ice maker assembly for reliability.
