Locate damper assembly: In many Etna bottom-freezer and side-by-side models, the air damper is located between the freezer and refrigerator compartments, often behind the top rear panel of the fridge section.
Remove cover: Take off the plastic cover to expose the damper housing and motor.
Check for ice or obstruction: Look for ice buildup or foreign objects blocking the damper flap. Defrost any ice with warm air (hair dryer on low, at a safe distance) while protecting plastic parts.
Operate damper manually: Gently move the flap by hand (if accessible). It should move freely. If it is jammed or the gears are stripped, the assembly must be replaced.
Inspect wiring: Ensure the damper motor connector is fully seated and wires are intact.
Replace damper assembly: If the motor does not respond to control commands or is noisy, install a new Etna air damper motor assembly.

Display shows E16 and the freezer fan or damper may not operate correctly, causing temperature imbalance.
