Possible Causes
Frozen water line in refrigerator door, Faulty dispenser micro switch, Child lock enabled on control panel, Kinked water line to dispenser
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator and shut off the water supply before disconnecting any water lines.
Steps:
- Check control lock: Ensure the dispenser is not locked via the control panel (child lock). Disable if active.
- Test dispenser switch: Press the dispenser paddle and listen for a click or valve activation sound. No sound may indicate a bad dispenser micro switch or control issue.
- Inspect door water line: On models with water through the door, the line can freeze inside the door. Open the door and gently warm the dispenser area with a hair dryer on low, moving constantly to avoid damage.
- Check for kinks: Pull the refrigerator forward and inspect the water line from the inlet valve to the door hinge for kinks or pinches.
- Replace faulty switch or thaw line: If thawing restores flow, improve door sealing and temperature settings. If the switch is defective, replace the Etna dispenser micro switch.
