Possible Causes
Cracked drain pan above compressor, Misaligned drain tube, Leaking water inlet valve, Loose water filter housing connections
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator and shut off the water supply if the unit has an ice maker or water dispenser.
Steps:
- Inspect drain pan: Remove the rear lower cover and locate the drain pan above the compressor. Check for cracks or warping and ensure the drain tube is correctly positioned over the pan.
- Check for overfilling: If the pan is overflowing, verify that the defrost drain is not clogged (see previous entry) and that room humidity is not excessively high.
- Inspect water connections: For models with water/ice, examine the water inlet valve, supply line, and water filter housing for drips or spray. Tighten compression fittings gently and replace any cracked plastic parts.
- Replace damaged parts: Install a new Etna drain pan or Etna water inlet valve if they are leaking.
- Dry area and test: Mop up water, restore power and water supply, and observe for new leaks.
