Possible Causes

Defective ambient NTC sensor near control panel, Disconnected or oxidized sensor connector on display PCB, Damaged wiring between ambient sensor and main control board, Faulty display/control PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect mains power before removing the control panel or display housing.

Steps to troubleshoot:

  • 1. Locate ambient sensor: On many Fagor refrigerators, the ambient sensor is located behind the front display/control panel or in a small grille on the cabinet front/top. Remove the trim or control panel screws to access it.
  • 2. Inspect sensor and connector: Check for corrosion, loose fit, or broken wires at the sensor plug. Reseat the connector firmly.
  • 3. Measure resistance: With the fridge unplugged, disconnect the sensor and measure its resistance. Compare to typical NTC values (several kΩ at room temperature). If it reads open or shorted, replace it.
  • 4. Check wiring to main PCB: If the sensor is good, verify continuity from the sensor connector to the main control board. Repair any damaged conductors or terminals.
  • 5. Inspect display PCB: Look for burnt components or cracked solder joints on the display/control PCB. If the ambient sensor circuit on the board is damaged, the entire board may need replacement.
  • 6. Replace faulty component: Install a new ambient NTC sensor or display PCB as required. Reassemble the control panel, restore power, and confirm that E3 clears and temperatures regulate normally.
