Possible Causes
Failed defrost heater, Defective defrost thermostat or NTC sensor, Faulty main control board defrost timing, Door gasket leaking warm moist air
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator before removing the freezer panel or testing electrical components.
Steps:
- 1. Manually defrost: Remove food, unplug the unit, and allow all ice to melt. Use towels to catch water. Do not use sharp tools to chip ice.
- 2. Test defrost components: After defrosting, access the evaporator and test the defrost heater and thermostat/NTC as described in E4 and E5. Replace any faulty parts.
- 3. Inspect door gasket: Ensure the freezer door gasket seals properly all around. Replace if torn or deformed.
- 4. Control board: If heater and sensors are good but frost returns quickly, the main control board may not be initiating defrost cycles and may need replacement.
