Possible Causes

TriMode evaporator fan failure, Air damper or motorized valve to TriMode compartment stuck closed, Defective TriMode temperature sensor (NTC), Control board output failure for TriMode zone

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator before accessing internal panels or control boards.

Step 1 – Confirm settings:

  • Verify the TriMode/pantry zone is enabled and set to the desired mode (refrigerator, pantry, or freezer) according to the Fhiaba user interface.
  • Ensure the door for this compartment closes properly and the gasket seals.

Step 2 – Check airflow and fan:

  • Listen for the TriMode compartment fan when the compressor is running. Some models only run the fan with the door closed; press the door switch to simulate closure.
  • If no airflow is felt at the vents, remove the interior panel (power off) to access the fan and damper assembly.
  • Inspect for ice or debris blocking the fan or damper. Clear obstructions and verify the fan spins freely.

Step 3 – Inspect damper or valve:

  • Locate the air damper or motorized valve that feeds cold air from the main evaporator to the TriMode compartment.
  • Check the linkage and foam seals; a stuck-closed damper will prevent cooling.
  • If the damper motor does not move during a mode change (per service manual test), it may need replacement.

Step 4 – Sensor and control:

  • Locate the TriMode NTC sensor and inspect its connector and wiring.
  • Measure resistance if possible and compare to spec; replace if out of range.
  • If fan, damper, and sensor are good but AL03 persists, the main control board may not be driving the TriMode circuit correctly. Professional diagnosis is recommended.
