Possible Causes

Open or shorted freezer NTC sensor, Moisture intrusion at sensor connector, Damaged harness in freezer door or wall, Faulty main control board sensor circuit

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator before removing freezer panels. Wear cut-resistant gloves when working around sharp metal edges.

Step 1 – Access the freezer NTC sensor:

  • Remove drawers and the rear interior panel of the freezer to expose the evaporator area.
  • Locate the NTC sensor clipped to the evaporator tubing or mounted on the wall.

Step 2 – Visual inspection:

  • Check for ice buildup around the sensor; gently remove ice with warm air, not sharp tools.
  • Inspect the connector and wiring for damage or corrosion.

Step 3 – Electrical test:

  • Measure resistance of the sensor at a known temperature and compare to the Fhiaba chart.
  • Replace the sensor if readings are out of range or unstable when gently moved.

Step 4 – Reassemble and test:

  • Secure the new sensor in the same position and route the harness away from moving parts or sharp edges.
  • Restore power, clear E02, and monitor freezer temperature over 24 hours.
  • If E02 persists, the main control board may require replacement.
