Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator before removing the rear or lower access panel. The compressor and surrounding components may be hot.
Step 1 – Access the condenser fan:
- Remove the lower rear panel (or front toe-kick on some built-in models) to expose the condenser and fan.
- Locate the fan near the compressor and condenser coils.
Step 2 – Inspect and clean:
- Remove dust and debris from the fan blades and surrounding area.
- Check that the blades are not rubbing against wiring or panels.
Step 3 – Test the fan motor:
- Spin the fan by hand; if it is stiff or seized, the motor is likely bad.
- Measure motor resistance; an open circuit indicates failure.
Step 4 – Replace the fan motor:
- Disconnect the old motor and install a compatible Fhiaba condenser fan motor.
- Secure all wiring and ensure the fan rotates freely.
- Restore power and verify that the fan runs when the compressor is operating.
Note: If the fan still does not run with a new motor, the control board output or power supply to the fan must be checked by a professional.
