Possible Causes
Failed secondary water inlet valve for ice maker, Blocked or frozen ice maker fill tube, Broken wire to ice maker valve coil, Control board not energizing ice fill output
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off the water supply and unplug the refrigerator before working on water valves or tubing.
Step 1 – Check for frozen fill tube:
- Inspect the plastic tube that directs water into the ice maker for ice blockage.
- If frozen, thaw gently with warm air and investigate for low water pressure or seeping valve causing slow leaks and freezing.
Step 2 – Test water inlet valve:
- Access the rear lower panel to locate the dual or triple water inlet valve assembly.
- Identify the coil feeding the ice maker (refer to wiring diagram).
- Measure coil resistance; an open coil indicates a failed valve.
Step 3 – Replace valve if needed:
- Disconnect water lines and wiring from the faulty valve and install a Fhiaba-compatible replacement.
- Use new compression fittings or O-rings as required to prevent leaks.
Step 4 – Control check:
- If the valve tests good but never receives voltage during an ice fill test, the main control board or ice maker module may be at fault.
- Professional diagnosis is recommended to avoid misdiagnosis and water damage.
