Freezer section not maintaining correct temperature; display shows E2.
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator before removing any panels in the freezer.
Locate the freezer sensor: In many Finlux no-frost models, the freezer sensor is clipped to the evaporator or mounted behind the rear freezer panel.
- Access the rear freezer panel: Remove drawers and shelves. Unscrew and carefully pull off the rear plastic panel. Be cautious of ice buildup and sharp metal edges.
- Inspect the sensor: Look for a small probe attached to the evaporator tubing or clipped to the panel with two thin wires. Check for breaks, corrosion, or ice damage.
- Check wiring: Follow the sensor wires to where they exit the liner. Ensure they are not cut or pinched. At the rear of the fridge, open the PCB cover and verify the freezer sensor connector is firmly seated.
- Test the sensor (optional): With the unit unplugged, disconnect the sensor and measure resistance. Compare to the fridge sensor if identical type; a large discrepancy or open/short indicates failure.
- Replace if needed: Install a compatible Finlux freezer NTC sensor, securing it in the same location on the evaporator or panel. Avoid direct contact with moving fan blades.
- Reassemble: Refit the rear panel, drawers, and shelves. Restore power and allow 12–24 hours for full temperature recovery.
When to seek service: If E2 persists after sensor replacement, the main control PCB or internal wiring may be faulty and should be checked by a technician.
