Possible Causes
Ice blockage in defrost drain hole, Food debris clogging drain channel, Drain tube kinked or blocked at rear, Poor cabinet leveling causing water to collect
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator before inserting any tools into the drain.
Clear internal drain:
- Locate the small drain hole at the rear of the fridge compartment (often just above the crisper drawers).
- Remove any visible debris with a cotton bud or soft brush.
- Use a turkey baster or syringe filled with warm (not boiling) water to flush the drain repeatedly until water flows freely.
Check rear drain outlet:
- At the back of the fridge, locate the drain tube leading to the evaporator tray above the compressor.
- Ensure the tube is not kinked or blocked. Remove and flush it with warm water if necessary.
Level the appliance:
- Use a spirit level to ensure the fridge is slightly tilted back so water flows to the drain.
- Adjust front feet as needed.
Re-test: After clearing the drain, monitor for a few days to confirm that water no longer accumulates inside.
