Possible Causes
Failed magnetic reed switch or Hall sensor, Misaligned door magnet, Damaged door harness in hinge area, Faulty input on main control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the refrigerator before removing trims or hinge covers.
F10 indicates the control is not receiving correct signals from one of the door sensors.
- Check door closure: Ensure all doors (fresh food, freezer, and any drawer doors) close fully and align correctly. A misaligned door may not activate the sensor.
- Inspect door gaskets: Look for twisted or damaged gaskets preventing full closure. Warm, moist air entering can also cause sensor issues.
- Locate sensor and magnet: On many Fisher & Paykel models, a magnet in the door interacts with a sensor in the cabinet frame. Verify the magnet is present and not loose.
- Test door switch: If your model uses a mechanical plunger switch, press it by hand and see if the interior light turns on/off. If not, the switch may be faulty.
- Inspect hinge wiring: For French-door and bottom-freezer models, wiring may pass through the top hinge. Check for pinched or broken wires under the hinge cover.
- Replace faulty sensor/switch: If the door switch or sensor tests open or intermittent, replace it with a Fisher & Paykel-compatible part.
- Control board consideration: If all sensors and wiring are good but F10 persists, the main control board may need professional diagnosis.
