Safety: Disconnect power before removing any control covers. Capacitors on the board can retain charge briefly.

F12 indicates a serious control system fault.

Power reset: Unplug the refrigerator for at least 10 minutes to allow the control to fully discharge. Plug back in and observe if F12 reappears.
Check outlet and supply: Verify the wall outlet provides stable voltage and that no extension cords or power strips are used. Plug another appliance in to confirm outlet function.
Inspect control board connections: Remove the control cover (often at the top rear or behind an interior panel). Check that all harness connectors are fully seated and show no signs of burning or corrosion.
Look for board damage: Examine the PCB for burnt components, cracked solder joints, or bulging capacitors.
Do not attempt board repair: Component-level repair is not recommended for untrained users. If visible damage is present or F12 persists after reseating connectors, the board should be replaced.
Professional replacement: Contact a Fisher & Paykel-authorized technician to replace and program the correct main control board for your model.

Display shows F12; refrigerator may not power up fully or may reboot intermittently.
