Possible Causes
Extended door openings, Failed evaporator fan, Heavy frost blocking airflow, Low refrigerant charge or sealed system leak
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Always disconnect power before removing panels. For sealed system issues, only licensed technicians should open the refrigerant circuit.
F15 indicates that the compartment temperature has remained too high for too long.
- Check doors and gaskets: Ensure all doors close fully and gaskets are clean and undamaged. Remove items preventing proper closure.
- Allow recovery time: After heavy loading or frequent door openings, allow several hours for temperatures to stabilize. Avoid overpacking shelves and blocking vents.
- Listen for fans and compressor: Confirm that the compressor and interior fans are running. If a fan is silent or the compressor is not starting, address those faults (see fan/compressor entries).
- Inspect for frost buildup: Look at the rear interior panel of the freezer. A thick frost layer suggests a defrost problem; see defrost fault guidance.
- Clean condenser: Vacuum dust from the condenser coils at the rear or underneath the unit to improve cooling efficiency.
- Monitor temperatures: Use a fridge/freezer thermometer to verify actual temperatures. If they remain high despite normal operation, a sealed system issue (leak, restriction, weak compressor) may be present and requires professional service.
