Possible Causes

Out-of-range thermistor readings, Incorrect sensor installation after prior repair, Control board calibration error, Damaged sensor harness

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the refrigerator before accessing sensors or the control board.

F16 suggests that one or more temperature readings are outside expected calibration limits.

  • Verify setpoints: Check that the temperature settings on the display are reasonable (e.g., 3–4°C for fresh food, -18°C for freezer). Reset to factory defaults if available.
  • Check sensor placement: Ensure all thermistors (fresh food, freezer, ambient) are properly clipped and not touching extremely cold surfaces or heaters directly.
  • Inspect harness: Look for any recent repairs or modifications where sensor wiring may have been extended or spliced incorrectly.
  • Test sensors: Using a multimeter and a temperature reference (ice water bath, room temperature), measure thermistor resistances and compare to Fisher & Paykel charts. Replace any that are significantly out of range.
  • Control board reset or replacement: If all sensors test correctly but F16 persists, the control board may have a calibration or ADC fault. A technician can reset or replace the board as needed.
