Possible Causes
Faulty fresh food thermistor, Stuck-open air damper, Control board not cycling compressor, Temperature set too low
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the refrigerator before accessing sensors or damper assemblies.
- Check temperature settings: Ensure the fresh food temperature is set to around 3–4°C (37–39°F). Increase the setpoint if it is too low.
- Inspect air vents: Make sure vents between freezer and fridge are not blocked by food items, which can cause cold air to dump into one area.
- Check damper operation: Locate the air damper and verify it opens and closes. If stuck open, replace the damper assembly.
- Test thermistor: Measure the fresh food thermistor resistance at known temperatures and compare to spec. Replace if readings are incorrect.
- Control issue: If hardware is good but the compressor never cycles off, the main control board may be faulty and should be evaluated by a technician.
