Possible Causes
Door left open for extended period, Recent power outage causing warm temperatures, Failed or drifting thermistor, Poor door gasket seal allowing warm air infiltration
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: No internal electrical work is required for basic checks, but unplug the unit if removing panels.
Step 1: Verify door closure
- Ensure all doors and drawers close fully and that nothing inside is blocking closure.
- Check that the door switch is being depressed when the door is closed.
Step 2: Check gasket condition
- Inspect the door gaskets for tears, gaps, or hardened sections.
- Use the paper test: close a sheet of paper in the door and gently pull. If it slides out easily, the seal is weak in that area.
Step 3: Allow recovery time
- If the door was left open or the unit was recently loaded with warm food, allow 12–24 hours for temperatures to normalize.
- Do not adjust controls repeatedly; set to recommended settings and wait.
Step 4: Sensor check (if persistent)
- If H1 persists after temperatures are clearly cold, the thermistor may be reading incorrectly.
- Test and replace the appropriate thermistor (fresh food or freezer) as needed.
When to call a technician: If temperatures are not dropping despite continuous operation, there may be a sealed system or control issue requiring professional service.
