Possible Causes
Failed compressor start relay, Failed start capacitor, Overload protector tripped, Failed compressor motor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Unplug the refrigerator and keep hands clear of sharp metal edges. The compressor can be very hot.
- 1. Listen for sounds: Plug in briefly and listen near the compressor. Clicking every few minutes without steady running indicates a start issue.
- 2. Inspect start device: Unplug again. Remove the start relay/overload assembly from the side of the compressor. Shake the relay gently; if it rattles, it may be failed.
- 3. Replace start device: Install a new OEM Frigidaire Professional start relay and overload (and capacitor if equipped). Ensure connections match the original.
- 4. Re‑test: Restore power. If the compressor now runs and cooling returns, monitor for normal operation. If it still fails to start, the compressor itself may be defective and requires professional sealed system service.
