Possible Causes
Door left open, Failed evaporator fan motor, Blocked air vents, Faulty temperature sensor, Low refrigerant charge or sealed system issue
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Avoid using sharp tools around plastic liners and wiring. Unplug the unit before removing panels.
Steps to address H1:
- 1. Check doors and gaskets: Ensure doors close fully and gaskets are sealing all around. Remove any items blocking closure.
- 2. Verify airflow: Make sure interior vents are not blocked by food. Leave space around the air tower and vents.
- 3. Listen for fans and compressor: Confirm the compressor and condenser fan (rear bottom) are running. Open the freezer and press the door switch to check the evaporator fan.
- 4. Inspect for frost buildup: Heavy frost on the evaporator indicates a defrost problem; follow defrost troubleshooting steps (see dF error).
- 5. Check temperature sensors: If the compartment feels cold but the display shows H1, the thermistor may be out of range. Test and replace the affected thermistor as needed.
- 6. Sealed system issues: If fans run, no frost buildup is present, and temperatures remain high, there may be a refrigerant or compressor problem. This requires an EPA‑certified technician.
After any repair or adjustment, allow 24 hours for temperatures to stabilize.
