Possible Causes
Failed PTC start relay or start capacitor, Overheating compressor drawing high current, Loose electrical connections at compressor terminals
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before accessing the compressor area. High voltage is present.
Steps:
- 1. Access compressor: Remove the rear lower cover to expose the compressor and start device.
- 2. Inspect start device: Remove the plastic cover on the compressor terminals. Check the PTC relay and capacitor (if present) for burn marks or rattling pieces inside.
- 3. Replace start device: If the relay is burnt or suspect, replace the start relay and capacitor with the correct Gaggenau/Bosch kit for your compressor model.
- 4. Test operation: Restore power and monitor. If the compressor still fails to start and clicks, the compressor itself may be failing and requires professional replacement.
