Possible Causes
Defective ambient NTC sensor, Sensor dislodged from mounting location, Damaged wiring from sensor to control board, Faulty sensor input on main control
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect mains power before accessing any sensor wiring.
Steps:
- 1. Confirm environment: Ensure the refrigerator is installed in an appropriate ambient temperature (typically 10–38°C). Extreme ambient conditions can affect readings but should not trigger E08 unless the sensor is faulty.
- 2. Locate ambient sensor: On many Gaggenau models, the ambient sensor is located behind a small grille on the top or rear of the cabinet, or near the condenser area.
- 3. Inspect sensor and wiring: Remove the grille or cover and check that the sensor is intact and its wiring is not pinched or cut. Reseat the connector.
- 4. Test sensor resistance: With power off, disconnect the sensor and measure resistance. Compare to the expected NTC value for room temperature. Replace the sensor if readings are open, shorted, or far out of range.
- 5. Replace sensor: Install a new ambient NTC sensor if needed, routing the wiring as originally installed.
- 6. Control board check: If a known-good sensor is installed and E08 persists, the main control board may be defective and should be evaluated by a technician.
