Possible Causes
Water leak from defrost drain, Water line leak inside cabinet, Cracked drain pan or tubing, Activated float switch in base tray
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power and close the water supply valve before inspecting for leaks.
Steps:
- 1. Pull out the appliance: Carefully move the refrigerator away from the wall. Look underneath for signs of water in the base tray.
- 2. Inspect base tray and float switch: Some Gaggenau models have a float switch in the base that triggers E15 when water accumulates. If accessible, remove the lower front or rear kick panel and check for standing water.
- 3. Remove water: Sponge or vacuum out any water from the tray. Allow the area to dry completely.
- 4. Identify leak source: Check the defrost drain outlet, water inlet valve, internal water lines, and drain pan for cracks or loose connections. Look for dried mineral trails indicating slow leaks.
- 5. Repair leak: Tighten fittings, replace cracked tubing, or clear blocked defrost drains as needed (see separate defrost drain entry for details).
- 6. Reset error: After drying and fixing the leak, restore power. If E15 returns and water reappears, further diagnosis by a technician is recommended.
