Possible Causes
Fresh food evaporator fan motor failure, Blocked fan, Faulty fresh food evaporator thermistor, Wiring harness issue
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before removing interior panels.
- Check fan operation: Remove the fresh food rear panel and observe the evaporator fan (with power briefly restored and door switch closed). If it does not spin, replace the fan motor.
- Inspect for ice: Ice buildup around the fan can stop it. Defrost the area carefully with a hair dryer on low, then address underlying defrost issues if present.
- Test thermistor: If the fan runs but E4 persists, test the thermistor attached to the fresh food evaporator coil and replace if out of spec.
- Check harness: Ensure all connectors between the fan/thermistor and main board are secure.
