Possible Causes
TurboFreeze feature active, Control in diagnostic mode, Faulty freezer thermistor, Control board glitch
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: No internal access is needed for initial steps.
- Check TurboFreeze: On many GE models, tF indicates TurboFreeze is active. Press the TurboFreeze button to disable it if not desired.
- Exit diagnostics: If the display is not responding normally, consult the tech sheet (often behind the toe kick or rear panel) for the button combination to exit test mode.
- Control reset: Disconnect power for 5 minutes, then restore. Reprogram temperature settings.
- Thermistor evaluation: If freezer temperature readings are inaccurate or fluctuate widely, the freezer thermistor may be faulty and should be tested and replaced if out of spec.
