Possible Causes
Condenser fan motor failure, Dirty condenser coils, Restricted airflow around refrigerator, Weak or failed compressor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator before cleaning coils or touching any fan wiring.
CC indicates the unit is not cooling as expected, often due to poor heat removal at the condenser.
- Check ventilation: Ensure there is at least 1–2 inches of clearance at the back and top of the refrigerator. Remove any items blocking the rear grille.
- Clean condenser coils: Pull the refrigerator away from the wall. Remove the lower rear access panel. Use a coil brush and vacuum to remove dust and pet hair from the condenser coils and surrounding area.
- Inspect condenser fan: With the back panel removed, plug the unit back in and carefully observe the condenser fan (near the compressor). It should run when the compressor is running. If it hums, is stalled, or does not spin, unplug the unit and check for obstructions. If clear but not running, the fan motor is likely bad.
- Check compressor operation: The compressor should run smoothly with a low hum and slight vibration. Loud clicking or very hot compressor housing can indicate a failing compressor or start device.
- When to call a technician: If cleaning coils and ensuring airflow does not resolve the CC code, or if the compressor is not running properly, professional sealed-system diagnosis is required.
