Possible Causes
Blocked condenser airflow, Failed condenser fan motor, Dirty condenser coils, Overloaded refrigerator causing poor air circulation
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before removing panels or touching any moving parts.
CH typically indicates the compressor or system is running too hot.
- Improve airflow: Pull the refrigerator away from the wall and ensure adequate clearance on all sides. Do not store items on top that block vents.
- Clean condenser: Remove the rear lower access panel and clean the condenser coils thoroughly with a brush and vacuum.
- Verify condenser fan: Restore power and check that the condenser fan runs whenever the compressor is on. If the fan does not run, or runs intermittently, replace the fan motor.
- Reduce load: Avoid overpacking the refrigerator and freezer. Ensure air vents inside are not blocked by food items.
- Monitor temperatures: After cleaning and improving airflow, allow 24 hours for temperatures to stabilize. If CH persists, the compressor or sealed system may be compromised and needs professional service.
