Possible Causes

Loose ice maker harness connection, Failed ice maker module, Faulty main control board, Damaged freezer door wiring harness

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator or switch off the circuit breaker before removing covers or handling wiring.

This code indicates the main control is not communicating properly with the ice maker.

  • Power reset: Unplug the refrigerator for 5 minutes, then restore power. Sometimes the control will re-establish communication and clear the code.
  • Check ice maker switch: Make sure the ice maker is turned ON (feeler arm down or switch in ON position, depending on model).
  • Inspect wiring at ice maker: Remove the ice bucket, then remove the ice maker cover or loosen mounting screws to gently pull the ice maker forward. Verify the wire harness plug is fully seated and not corroded or damaged.
  • Check door harness: On French-door Café models, inspect the wiring harness where it passes through the freezer door hinge. Look for pinched, broken, or frayed wires.
  • Test ice maker: If your model has a test button on the ice maker, press and hold it for 3–5 seconds to initiate a harvest cycle. If it does not respond but has power, the ice maker module is likely faulty.
  • When to call a technician: If wiring is intact and the ice maker does not respond to tests, or if the CI code returns after a reset, the ice maker assembly or main control board may need replacement and should be diagnosed with a meter.
