Possible Causes
Faulty door switch, Misaligned door not fully closing, Damaged door wiring harness, Failed dispenser control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator before removing any control panels or door switch assemblies.
dE indicates the control is detecting an abnormal door status.
- Check door closure: Make sure all doors are closing fully and the gaskets are not obstructed by food packages or shelves.
- Inspect door switch: Locate the door switch (usually in the upper frame area). Press it manually and listen for a click. If the interior lights do not respond or the click is absent, the switch may be faulty.
- Test with a multimeter: With power disconnected, remove the switch and test for continuity when pressed. Replace if it does not change state.
- Check wiring: Inspect the harness leading from the door switch to the top hinge area for pinched or broken wires.
- Control reset: After repairs, restore power and hold the lock or settings button (per your model's instructions) to clear the error if needed.
- Call a technician: If the switch and wiring are good, the dispenser or main control board may be misreading the door status and should be professionally diagnosed.
