Possible Causes
Failed dispenser/user interface board, Loose ribbon cable connection, Moisture intrusion into control panel, Faulty main control board communication
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker before removing the dispenser or control panel.
ER indicates a problem with the user interface electronics.
- Power cycle: Shut off power for 5 minutes, then restore. Check if the ER code clears.
- Inspect dispenser UI: On French-door Café models, remove the dispenser trim and control panel. Check the ribbon cable and connectors for corrosion or looseness.
- Dry moisture: If there are signs of condensation or water intrusion, gently dry the area and ensure the dispenser chute and gaskets are sealing properly.
- Check harness to main board: Verify the harness from the UI to the main control is fully seated at both ends.
- Replace UI if needed: If buttons or display segments do not respond and wiring is good, replace the dispenser/user interface board.
- Technician help: If a new UI does not resolve the ER code, the main control board may have a communication fault.
