Possible Causes
Open or shorted evaporator thermistor, Thermistor dislodged from evaporator, Damaged wiring harness, Faulty main control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before removing freezer panels.
EU indicates the evaporator temperature sensor is not reading correctly.
- Access evaporator: Remove freezer drawers and the rear panel to expose the evaporator coil and thermistor.
- Check placement: Ensure the thermistor is clipped securely to the evaporator tubing in the correct location.
- Inspect wiring: Look for nicks, breaks, or corrosion in the thermistor wires and connector.
- Measure resistance: Test the thermistor at a known temperature and compare to GE specifications. Replace if out of range.
- Control board check: If a new thermistor does not clear the EU code, the main control board may be defective and should be evaluated by a technician.
