Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator before removing interior covers.

rS indicates a problem with the refrigerator compartment temperature sensor.

Locate sensor: Find the fresh food thermistor (often behind a small plastic cover on the rear or side wall).
Inspect and reseat: Remove the cover, check the sensor and wiring, and ensure the connector is firmly seated.
Resistance test: Remove the thermistor and measure resistance at room temperature. Replace if readings are out of specification.
Check harness at board: Verify the thermistor harness is properly connected to the main control board.
Board diagnosis: If a new thermistor does not clear rS, the main control board may be defective.

Display shows rS and the refrigerator section temperature is not being read correctly.
