Possible Causes
Frozen water line in door, Clogged water filter, Faulty dispenser switch, Failed water inlet valve dispenser side
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off water supply and unplug the refrigerator before disconnecting water lines.
No water at the dispenser can be due to a blockage or valve issue.
- Check water filter: Replace the water filter if it is old or suspected to be clogged.
- Test for frozen line: Open the fresh food door and feel the dispenser area. If very cold, the line in the door may be frozen. Lower the refrigerator temperature setting slightly and leave doors closed to allow thawing.
- Bypass filter (if possible): Some models allow a filter bypass plug; install it to see if flow returns.
- Check valve operation: Listen for a humming sound at the back when the dispenser is pressed. If silent, the valve or control may be faulty.
- Inspect door harness: On models with wiring through the hinge, check for broken wires that could prevent the valve from energizing.
- Replace valve: If the valve coil for the dispenser side is open or not energizing, replace the water inlet valve.
