How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off the water supply to the refrigerator and unplug the unit before inspecting.
Rear leaks are often related to the water supply system.
- Inspect water line: Check the copper or braided line from the house supply to the refrigerator for drips or cracks.
- Check inlet valve: Remove the rear lower panel and inspect the water inlet valve and attached plastic tubing for leaks while the water is on.
- Tighten fittings: Gently tighten compression fittings if they are seeping. Do not overtighten plastic fittings.
- Replace damaged tubing: Any cracked or brittle plastic water lines should be replaced with GE-approved tubing.
- Valve replacement: If the valve body is leaking, replace the water inlet valve assembly.
