Display shows dE or door error; door alarm sounds continuously even when doors appear closed.

Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator before removing any door switch or trim pieces. Use caution when moving doors to avoid injury.

Step 1 – Verify door closure:

• Open and firmly close each door (fresh food, freezer, and any drawers). Listen for the latch engaging.
• Check for items on shelves or in door bins that may be preventing full closure (e.g., tall bottles hitting shelves).
• Inspect the door gaskets for folds, tears, or debris. Clean with warm soapy water and dry thoroughly.

Step 2 – Test the door switch:

• Locate the door switch (usually at the top or side frame of the compartment opening).
• With power on, press and release the switch. The interior lights should turn off when pressed and on when released.
• If the lights do not respond or the alarm continues with the switch pressed, the switch may be faulty.

Step 3 – Replace the door switch if needed:

• Unplug the refrigerator.
• Carefully pry out the switch using a plastic putty knife or flat tool to avoid scratching the liner.
• Disconnect the wiring harness connector.
• Install the new door switch, reconnect the harness, and snap it back into place.

Step 4 – Check door alignment:

• Verify that the doors are level and aligned with each other. If a door sags, it may not engage the switch fully.
• Adjust the leveling legs at the front of the refrigerator to tilt the unit slightly back so doors close more easily.
• On some Monogram models, hinge adjustments can be made at the top or bottom hinges; consult the installation manual.

When to call a technician: If the dE code persists after switch replacement and alignment, there may be a wiring or control board issue requiring professional diagnostics.
