Possible Causes
User accidentally set temperature too low, Control lock or Sabbath mode confusion, Thermistor miscalibration, Control board logic error
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: No internal electrical work is required for basic checks. If accessing boards, unplug the unit first.
Step 1 – Verify temperature settings:
- Check the control panel and confirm the set temperatures for fresh food and freezer.
- Adjust to recommended settings (typically 37°F / 3°C for fresh food and 0°F / -18°C for freezer).
Step 2 – Check for special modes:
- Ensure the unit is not in Sabbath mode or demo mode, which can alter display behavior.
- Refer to the user manual to exit any special modes.
Step 3 – Confirm actual temperatures:
- Use thermometers in both compartments to verify real temperatures.
- If actual temperatures are normal despite LO display, the issue may be cosmetic (display/UI).
Step 4 – Reset control electronics:
- Unplug the refrigerator for 5 minutes, then restore power.
- Re-enter desired temperature settings.
Step 5 – Sensor or board issues:
- If temperatures are too cold and do not respond to setting changes, test thermistors and inspect the main control board as described in other temperature fault entries.
When to call a technician: If LO persists with abnormal temperatures after reset and sensor checks, professional diagnostics are advised.
