Possible Causes
Failed ice maker module, Ice maker motor stalled, Faulty ice maker harness connection, Main control board communication fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power to the refrigerator before disconnecting the ice maker harness.
- Reset the ice maker: On many GE Profile models, turn the ice maker power switch OFF for 30 seconds, then ON. Some models have a test button under the ice maker cover; press and hold to initiate a harvest cycle.
- Check for jammed ice: Remove the ice bin and inspect the ice maker rake and mold for stuck cubes or foreign objects. Clear any obstructions.
- Inspect wiring: Verify the ice maker harness is fully seated in its connector and not pinched or damaged.
- Water supply: Confirm the water line to the refrigerator is on and the fill tube to the ice maker is not frozen. If frozen, thaw gently with warm air and check the fill valve.
- Replace ice maker: If the ice maker does not cycle during test and has proper power and water, replace the ice maker assembly. If a new ice maker still shows CI, the main control board may be at fault.
